Support

There are many groups across the world supporting people living with HIV. I cannot cover all of them, and there are many other resources out there to help you find what support you may need. However, I will highlight some with whom I have contact, beginning with:

POSITIVE CATHOLICS

Positive Catholics is a peer support network of women and men, who are living with HIV and have a Christian faith. Within the Roman Catholic tradition they offer peer ministry of support and fellowship for each other.

All who identify as Christian and living with HIV are welcome.

Anyone living with HIV who is interested in exploring Christian faith is also most welcome to join them.

They are supported by CAPS UK – Catholics for AIDS Prevention and Support whose website is

POSITIVE LIFE

Positive Life has been making a difference to the quality of people’s lives for over 25 years, beginning life as the AIDS Telephone Helpline in 1986 and now as a city centre facility offering a range of services and supports expanded across Northern Ireland. As the needs of clients diversify and the social and medical environment changes in Northern Ireland, the organisational continues to respond to these challenges and the changing face of HIV.

I have been involved with Positive Life in a number of ways in the last few years: client, trustee, and volunteer. It has been my pleasure being involved at a crucial time in the charity’s history and change. At present, I am quite happy to be simply a client, benefiting from the friendly support and assistance that we all know comes from everyone at Positive Life.
